Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island known as West Island. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar to its significance. Many people believe that it is an island that lies west of Montreal However, the West Island encompasses everything between the cities that are Lachine and West. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on West Island. But it's not the case. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to become an actress, but after a sudden expansion, she and her partner were no longer able to dance with her. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed that she wore heels and was 6 feet 1 inch tall. After I surpassed my male counterparts, that's when I gave up. Bruce was among the former dancers who turned to acting. The teacher she had at high school was what pushed her in the right direction. She was encouraged to audition for a part in the school's production. Following a trial, she ended up as the leading lady for Anne of Green Gables. It led to her receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship from York University. In 2000 she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts at York University. Over the past 20 years since Brugel has landed roles on more than 60 productions across small and big screens. She attracted the most attention when she landed the role of Rita in the award-winning television series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the only Canadian actor for Season 1 of the series and only appeared on occasion.
